Innotek Dog Trainers and Warranty Information
When purchasing an important item for your dog such as a training e-collar, the process to look and read through the hundreds of auctions can get a bit overwhelming. There are several choices of trainers and believe me when I say not all sellers give you enough information. You may close your browser and still be clueless after just spending hours to no avail. I have compiled together this guide to help alleviate some of the anxiety some of you may feel.
Warranty: If you want your free warranty, make sure you purchase from an Innotek Authorized eBay Retailer or an Innotek Authorized Internet Retailer. Not all sellers on eBay are authorized dealers. The authorized sellers have been issued a Gray Seal. This seal insures your item is eligible for warranty and you are not purchasing refurbished or shelf pulled products. These sellers have factory new and sealed product for your purchase. The eBay seal is given to those sellers who only sell on eBay, while the internet retailer is listed on the Innotek manufacturers website as authorized dealers and also have their own plus their eBay store.
Now, what you've been wanting to know about Innotek trainers....
Dog Size: All Innotek trainers, except one, fit dogs weighing 15-220 lbs. and there is an extension to buy for the dog with a huge neck or one that has lots of hair. And speaking of which, those with longer hair need longer probes. (probes are the pieces of metal protruding through the receiver collar touching the dog's neck) Some systems come with the longer probes other's you'll have to have the seller to special order them for you. The only trainer for the small dog is the model SD-70 designed for the little friends weighing in the 4-40 lbs. range and this model is good for 200 feet and 4 levels of correction. All collar receivers weigh 1 to 3.5 oz. and relatively lightweight for any dog.
Range: The longer the range the hotter the system. The ranges are 150, 200, 250, 300 and 1000 yards. (1000 yards is approximately a half mile) If you have a knowingly stubborn dog, go with the 1000' range.
Batteries: The batteries are either user replaceable 6 volts or user rechargeable NiMH or Lithium-Ion with a charger. The e-collars that take the 6 volts such s the SD-100 and the FS-15 are less expensive but in the long run buying batteries for the long term can add up or be dead when you need it most, but that's the choice you must make in price comparision.
Collar Receivers: The receivers can either be waterproof or water resistant. If you have a dog that loves the water you'd be best to make sure you get a waterproof collar receiver. The waterproof collars are models, IUT-300, IUT-1000, ADV-300 and ADV-1000 and the small dog system SD-70. The new 2005 collars are ReadyTest 鈩?meaning when the green light comes on, the contoured fit collar on your dog's neck has ran a test to make sure it is not too tight or lose but a perfect fit and the battery is in good order.
All receivers sold by Innotek are FCC approved and come with excellent product support and warranty. Innotek provides either a VHS tape or DVD's in their system to help explain how to train your pet. If you need more answers they provide an 800 number with a live person to assist you and better yet, if you're not completely satisfied most all authorized dealers give a 30 day return offer.
Stimulation/Correction: When talking about the jolt of the collar , it is referred to as the stimulation or correction.; it can be just a tone or all the way to the 15th level. Innotek's current systems have 4, 7, 9,and 15 levels. The systems with the most levels is the (2005 model) IUT-1000 and the older ADV-1000; with 2 collars they are models IUT-1002 and ADV-1002. (Sellers may list the 1000 series as an IUT-1000-2 for the two dog) The SD-70 model and the SD-100 offer 4 levels.
Remote Transmitter: This is remote you hold in your hand to control the collar transmitter. All of the transmitters are either classified as a miniature and can be put on a key ring or pocket size, with the exception of the IUT-1000 which has the Eurogrip. I relate it to a game control grip.
PayPal Buyer Credit: Now you're probably wondering what this has to do with trainers; to some it may be the key to getting the right system. When choosing your pet's training system, sometimes financial responsibility can interfere with getting the right collar; but I found items can be attainable with the right financing. PayPal Buyer Credit, especially around the holidays, run 3 to 12 months interest free and sometimes payment free financing. Sometimes you can swing getting a nice item in short term payments or longer interest free payments. And when PayPal don't offer it, we sellers can turn on a promotion button to meet the buyers needs for their financing. It don't hurt to email and ask if they can give you any special financing. eBay charges the seller a percentage of the sale on top of the usual fees, so it depends on if the seller has enough room to give or not.
PayPal Buyer Credit is similar to a credit card without the card. You can apply for your credit line within your PayPal site or find a link under the sellers feedback box. In that same box you will see the current financing options. Click on the link and it will take you to the application. The questions are easy and a response in in less than a minute. Once you have your line of credit you can use it by buying your auction as usual and changing your payment method to pay with PayPal Buyer Credit rather than e-check, direct debit or your usual credit card. The choice is there in your PayPal account. You do not have to use the credit line at all, but it is there if you need it. One word of caution, if you have "cash" in your account you must send it to your bank first if you plan to totally use the PayPal Buyer Credit. The system takes from your cash account first when making an auction payment and then charges the rest to PayPal Buyer Credit.
The Ultimate Trainer: Now those of you who are wondering which Innotek e-collar trainer has all the features and "is" the "it" of eBay, may I suggest the IUT-1000. This system offers a contoured, self diagnostic collar, a 1000' range with 2 levels of boost and can control up to 2 dogs (look for the IUT-1002 or the IUT-1000-2) both mean it has two collars included. If you only have the one dog buy the IUT-1000. This great Innotek system offers 15 levels of stimulation, tone option with LCD output, waterproof collar with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. This system sells around $250 for the one collar system with warranty.
Innotek also carries the famous contain only and the contain and train. These systems are in-ground invisible fences with some having a built in trainer combination. My suggestion for the contain and train, is the new IUC-5100, but that's another guide at another time.
And just for additional information, the in-ground fences don't have to buried at all, but the recommendation is for at least 3". The fence wire can be laid with long ground staples and can be taken up if you are a renter or move frequently.
