REED DIFFUSERS - WHICH IS BEST

With the latest craze of Fragrance Reed Diffusers many companies, as well as fragrance enthusiasts, have started to make and sale these diffusers. Lately there has been much misinformation about the actual diffuser reeds themselves. What are they exactly and which is best?

According to a reputable reed diffuser organization, if you think about it botanically, you'll understand. Bamboo does not work because of its structure. Bamboo has 'nodes' on the outside of the plant (which are like tree knots). On ths inside of the bamboo at this location there are diaphragms which block the flow of liquid from one section to the next. Bamboo also becomes very large and hard. When you slice bamboo, even into tiny skewers, it maintains its hardness and overall structure.

Rattan Reed is very porous and what is to be used for the best possible diffusion. Rattan Reeds contain 20 or more individual cellular sections that run top to bottom (picture 20 or more super-tiny straws). This allows reeds to be totally open for transfering liquid from bottom to top. This wicks (transfers) the fragrance from inside the bottle, up through the reed and out into the air.

Be careful when buying Reed Diffusers - some companies will just have Reed Diffuser as a description. Make sure they are using actual Rattan Reeds, not Bamboo.
